A BEAUTIFUL weekend on the picturesque shores of Prince Edward Island, which everyone and their grandmother was praying for nice weather to attend this years highly anticipated Cavendish Beach Music Festival. It's more than just a festival for some, as we overheard some say it was their "religion"! This year the festival brought together an eclectic lineup that resonated with music lovers from near and far, with the headliners being Hunter Hayes, Carrie Underwood and Eric Church!
Before we go on about the talent they headliners made look effortless, we need to talk about the vibes of this years festival. The weather was everything we hoped, with clear skies and sunshine that the festivalers didnt take for granted. On the grounds, you could find the folk playing yard games, while drinking their favourite local brew like the beloved Beach Chair lagar from the PEI Brewing Company, or trying to squeeze just a little more closer to hear some of the newly amerging artists at the like local Alli Walker, born and raise in Prince Edward Island.
Each night as the sun dipped below the horizon, the festival came more alive as you could feel the anticipation waiting for each nights' amazing headliner to hit the stage.
Kicking the festival off was no other than Hunter Hayes, whose infectious enthusiasm and musical prowess set the perfect tone for the weekend ahead. Hayes' heartfelt lyrics resonated deeply with the crowd, setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable year at CBMF. Songs like "Wanted" and "I Want Crazy" had festival-goers on their feet, dancing and screaming along to every word. Hayes' performance not only warmed up the crowd but also left a lasting impression, marking the beginning of the 2019 Cavendish Beach Music Festival. As the we met the end of day one, we knew we still had another two amazing days ahead.
Day two came along, and boy did it RAIN! But that didnt stop the folk in the crowd as they were ready, bright and early. There was no annoying water-cooler talk this morning, as today was Saturday, and their was fun to have on Day 2 of CBMF.
Walking into the festival grounds, we see all the lads and gals rocking their old Carrie Underwood tee, so we knew we were going to be in for a treat with an amazing crowd despite the rain. Not only that, but the food trucks were up early, because the smells wafting over the grounds had us drooling for poutine and hotdogs. We got there eary to catch every artist that hit the stage!
As the rain continued to pour overhead at CBMF, we knew the powerhouse of a voclist, Carrie Underwood, was just beind the corner of the stage. The crowd was starting to show its energy, as all the lights were out and wating for a kickdrum to kickstart the last performance of the night. Right off the bat, she hit us with "Before He Cheats" and "Jesus, Take the Wheel," and the crowd was going wild. Underwood's performance was a masterclass of what a country music festival should be. The crowd sang along, danced freely, and embraced every moment under the starlit PEI sky, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
As the day came to an end, we knew we had one more day ahead, with better weather to gather under for Day three of CBMF.
We woke up to "Springsteen" that we set on phones alarm the night before, because we in for a treat, with Eric Church before our eyes in less than 14 hours.
Our legs may have been a little tired, but our hearts were still fluttering as got through the gates. The younger folk looked like they didn't danced and holler for the last two days, as the older crew hauled their chairs for what would be the last day of CBMF 2019.
The crowed grew bigger and bigger as the day grew on, and before you knew it, it was shoulder to shoulder as we waited for Mr. Church's set to begin.
For those fortunate enough to witness Eric Church's performance at the 2019 Cavendish Beach Music Festival, it was more than a concert—it was a transformative experience that encapsulated the essence of live music at its finest. Hit after hit, he played crowd favourites like"Drink in My Hand,", "Some of It" and our favourite "Springsteen", as the crowed was split between rocking out and gushing over seeing their favourite artist in their home province. He 'rock n rolled' us into the final hour of the night, as finished his set with "Smoke a little Smoke" and him and the festival said fairwell for the last and final night of CBMF 2019.
We may be biased, but this had to be one of the best CBMF years to date. You just had to have been there.
